A
Tradition of Helping
Sometimes
it seems that the timeless tradition of neighbor helping neighbor
becomes lost in daily life. But time and time again, when tragedy
occurs in this community, we help our neighbors.
At
F. Ruggiero & Sons Funeral Homes, that philosophy serves as the
basis for everything we do. Our business was founded 5 generations
ago, in 1875, ten years after the Civil War had ended, and during
the time when Ulysses S. Grant was President. Since the very first
day we have continued to be the premier family of funeral directors,
and have been as close, and as ready to help as a good neighbor.
We offer our services in order to honor a life that has been lived,
and to comfort those who grieve.
Since
the day our founder, Francesco Ruggiero, first offered his services
to the people of New York, the concept of "our family helping your
family" has been reflected in the services we offer, in our professional,
capable staff, and in our 5 generations of continued family tradition.
In the early 1900's four of Francesco's children, Joseph, Louis,
Michael, and Ralph, joined the firm. They were followed in the early
1940's by Louis' two sons, Frank and Vincent Sr. During the 1970's,
three of Vincent's sons, Robert, Richard, and Michael, became the
fourth generation to join the firm and Michael's wife, Eileen, joined
as the firm's first female licensed funeral director in the family.
Throughout
the years, the families we serve have found our efforts to be of
great value in arranging funeral services that are most meaningful,
and appropriate for those who remain, while incorporating the wishes
of the person who has died. That is why we offer both traditional,
and cremation services that can be customized, and tailored to the
wants, and desires of each family we serve.
Our
contribution to the community goes far beyond the funeral service.
We know that the funeral itself is only the first step in the grieving
process. In the weeks, and months following the funeral, we can
continue to serve with our comprehensive, professionally-led bereavement
support program. Our "Continuing Care Program," one of the largest
aftercare programs in New York, provides free support group meetings
for those who have experienced the loss of a spouse, a parent, or
a child, including pregnancy loss such as miscarriage, stillborn
and infant death. The program also provides information, and referral
to other resources as needed.
To
help familiarize people with funerals, the related decisions that
must be made, and other aspects of our service before the need arises,
we offer our "Consumer Advocacy Services Program" as a free informational
community service and likewise offer tours of our facilities to
interested community groups.
